Saludos! I'm Caitlin
I'm a Certified Fertility Awareness Educator and Girls'
Coming of Age Mentor.
My life's work is to help people of all ages and walks of life
understand the menstrual cycle.
My eyes shine to describe the awesome powers
of our wombs, ovaries, and hormones. I love to see an
11-year old girl's excitement when she hears that her
uterus is one of the strongest muscles in the human body,
and that she should be proud to own one. I love to
watch my adult students' eyes light up when they
understand their fertility signs. I love to witness a shy
adolescent bravely asking her mother about periods for
the first time.
I'm overjoyed to guide people on their journey towards
confidence and peace with their bodies and cycles.
When I was 25 years old I went through the most radical change of my entire life.
I had spent most of my life totally in the dark about my fertility and cycles. I was deathly afraid of an unplanned pregnancy. I hated my periods, and I felt ashamed and uncomfortable to be in a woman's body. I thought I would never feel confident in my own skin.
One day I stumbled upon a book at the thrift store that changed everything: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.
I was skeptical, thinking it was a book about the Rhythm Method. In fact, it was something totally different, called the Fertility Awareness Method.
I bought the book for 10 cents, brought it home, and started reading.
Fertility Awareness blew my mind. I had no idea that there was such an in-depth way to understand my cycles!
I learned that my body was giving me physical signs each and every day to tell me what was going on with my cycle.
These signs, when charted, revealed phenomenal details about my cycles that I never knew existed.
My charts showed me when I started and ended my fertile phase, when I ovulated, how long the current cycle would be, and even the exact day my period would start.
Even better, my extreme anxiety and fear of an unintended pregnancy melted away. By checking 2 signs and following 4 rules, I had all-natural birth control that didn't cost anything, didn't create waste, and didn't require drugs or devices (of course, I did eventually learn FAM with a certified teacher —worth every penny, and extremely helpful for making sure I was solid in my understanding and technique).
Best of all, though, was the overwhelming sense of freedom, confidence, and joy I gained from understanding – for the first time ever – how my cycles and fertility actually worked. Through my
education in Fertility Awareness, I changed into an proud, powerful woman.
And I never feared a late period again.
I studied for 2 years with Sarah Bly's Grace of the Moon Teacher Training Program, graduating in 2016 as a Certified Fertility Awareness Educator & Reproductive Health Educator. I'm recognized as a certified instructor by the Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals.
Since the beginning of my teacher training I knew that I wanted to offer girls and teens their own course for understanding cycles. I completed my training as a girls' mentor with Katherine Krueger's Journey of Young Women Mentoring Girls Certificate Training in 2016 and launched my girls' class series. I remain active in the JOYW community as an ongoing collaborator for Youth Cycle Literacy and Menstrual Wellness topics.
